History (at least a paragraph):
Jaye is a pyrokinetic, and she's the only one in her family to be so. The ability didn't manifest itself until she was 8, and when she showed her parents they freaked out. Her mother, who was slightly unstable mentally anyway, tried to kill her. She was taken in by her Uncle Kirck (her mother's brother) and she never saw her parents again. She has a restraining order on her mother, but she talks on the phone with her father. Her Uncle Kirck put her through school in Saint James City and she worked in his bookstore throughout her junior and high school years.
The bookstore her uncle owned is called The First Page and he retired from the management and left it to her as a graduation present when she was 17. When Jaye was 18 the cafe next door (The Pub) came under new management and Jaye befriended the new owner. It wasn't long before they were good enough friends to share the existence of their abilities. (Actually, Jaye just happened to walk in to talk to Faye one day and found her new friend talking to someone Jaye couldn't see.)
Sample role play (at least a paragraph):
Jaye sighed and stretched out on the black counter facing the door to her bookshop. The weather was gray and chill and she didn't expect many customers. Faye had not yet opened her business, so there was no inviting light through the archway to the cafe next door. It was six in the morning so Faye wouldn't open for another hour and a half, but she was usually there at five. Jaye thought about walking over and setting up for Faye when the bell above her door jingled. She cast her eyes to the two people walking in her door. One look at the woman and Jaye swept the pet rat off her counter with a gentle push, into her outstretched hand hidden from view.
