Kimberly crossed the parking lot with her brother and sister. She glanced over at Emma jingled the keys in her hand before sliding them into her bag. Kyle had left them a few minutes ago to hang out with some friends before class. Kimmy got the feeling that there was something on her sister's mind but she knew better than to bring it up. If Emma wanted to talk, it would eventually happen. If Kimberly asked, Em would just push her away. They reached the quad and Emma walked off to sulk. With a sigh, Kimberly looked around. Starting a new school always sucked. Especially since the school year had already started. She was hoping to make some friends when she did cheerleading but she still had to try out with the head cheerleader and that wasn't for another week.
Kimberly found an empty spot of grass on the far side of the quad and sat down. She crossed her legs in front of her and pulled her bag off her back, sliding it into her lap. Pulling out her cellphone, she sent a quick text to a friend from back home before looking up, blocking the sunlight with her hand. Today is going to be a long day she thought to herself with a audible sigh.

Maggie smiled proudly as she parked the BMW in one of the many parking spaces at Saint-James High School. Her mother smiled as well, in amusement, and held out one hand for the keys.
"Nice job, kiddo, you're doing great. You'll have that license soon."
"Thanks Mom" Maggie grinned appreciatively and relinquished the keys before sliding out of the car and shouldering her tote bag. Waving cheerfully, she set off for the school. She was halfway across the quad when she noticed a new girl sitting by herself. Maggie was never really a social kind of girl but there was something about this girl that made her want to go see if she was ok. She couldn't put her finger on it exactly.
She strolled over and offered a welcoming smile. "Hey, you must be new. I'm Maggie."

Hey you must be new, I'm Maggie The girl who had walked up to her said. Kimberly was surprised that somebody was talking to her. Usually most people would ignore the new girl, at least for the first day. And well, this girl looked to be popular. She pulled up in a BMW of all cars. Hey,nice to meet you. I'm Kimberly she replied quietly. I'm uh new, as you probably know she added.

Maggie raised an eyebrow. "That's what I just said. Anyways, welcome to Saint-James. How are you liking it so far?" She took a seat next to the girl, ignoring all the weird looks she got for sitting next to a new kid. She was used to getting weird looks anyways.

Kimberly blushed madly in embarassment. I-I'm sorry.. I'm a little overwhelmed today. she said when Maggie raised an eyebrow at her. I've only been here since Thursday and haven't gotten much of a chance to see anything but my new house.. my parents registered me at this school when they came to finalize the purchase of the house... she explained. I'm sorry.. I'm rambling! she said blushing again and biting her lower lip.

"Yes, you are" Maggie said simply when the girl stammered that she was rambling. Social skills had never been something Maggie had been too eager to improve. She was comfortable with the way she was and wasn't going to change for anyone. "Where did you guys move from" she asked next, crossing her legs at the ankles and resting her tote bag by her feet.

Yes you are Maggie answered when Kimberly said she was rambling. Kimberly bit her lip, turning her head away for a moment. She knew she was a little nervous but Maggie was somehow making it worse by being so cool. Where did you guys move from? Maggie asked. Tennessee she answered simply.

"Tennessee" Maggie repeated. "Do you get a lot of those you're the only ten I see jokes" she wanted to know. She'd always been curious about that. "Personally, I think it's one of the worse pick up lines...right next to, does this rag smell like chlorofome...but maybe it actually works if you are from Tennessee."

Maggie brought up some joke about Tennessee.. one that Kimberly had heard but never thought was funny. "Uh, yeah, but it isn't really funny after you've heard it a million times" she answered truthfully in her southern accent. She nodded in agreement when Maggie said it was close to the rag smelling like chloroform joke. "Pick up lines are beyond lame" she commented.

Maggie almost had a strong desire to run up to the first guy she saw and beg them to do the ten-i-see pick up line on Kimberly just to see her reaction, but she resisted. Instead she just nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm not sure if I've ever heard of one actually working before. So what's your first class?"

Kimberly laughed, "I'd be surprised if it did work on somebody" she answered. She dug her schedule out of her bag, flipping it so she could actually read it. "Biology" she answered. She furrowed her eyebrows in disappointment, "I hope that doesn't mean I have to dissect things early in the morning"

Maggie wrinkled her nose. "Eww Biology. That sucks, I'm sorry. What's the rest of your schedule look like? Maybe we have some classes together." She peered over the other girl's shoulder and scanned the list. "Hey we have history and math together, nice" she exclaimed.

Kimberly nodded, biology first thing in the morning was really going to be awful. She made a mental note to keep track of when she'd have to dissect things so that she wouldn't have something to eat for breakfast. Maggie peered over her shoulder, checking out her schedule. Hey we have history and math together, nice Maggie said. Cool, at least now I'll know somebody in a couple classes she answered with a smile. The bell rang then, signaling them that it was time for homeroom. Homeroom 201 is that way, right? she pointed as she asked Maggie, only slightly remembering where anything was from her tour of the school.

"Aw man, I was hoping we would be in homeroom together too...though I dont see how being that my last name begins with an R, and yours a..." she looked back at the schedule. "...C. Anyways, yeah, it's down the hall that way and then a sharp left and its the first door. See you in math." She made a face, grabbed her bag, returned the girl's schedule and headed for the doors.

Kimberly nodded, it would be nice to have somebody in homeroom but then again it was only twenty minutes in the morning and she could bear through it. Thanks for the help she answered with a smile. Yeah, see you in math she added, taking back her schedule and pocketing it. She entered through the other doorway before turning down the hall trying to dodge everybody who was goofing off. She made it to her homeroom and slid inside, grabbing a seat in the back beside an angry looking guy. [/blockquote]
