Derek strummed at his guitar idly as the vocalist jumped around the small space, it wasn't very big and Derek had to keep stepping back to stay out of his way and not get tripped up by the microphone cable. He turned his gaze to the people sitting around enjoying their night wondering if he could get one of the to come home with him tonight. The last song ended and he headed to the bar, not caring that he was hot and sweaty he just wanted a drink. He got himself a beer before turning his attention back to the others in the room. [apparently not mature because derek isn't getting any ]

Lily was working the sound board, as usual. She shook her head at the guy working it with her, letting him know not to switch something. She really couldn't believe that her bosses were forcing her to work with somebody else and train them. They wanted her to take photos for the pub and the bands. Photography was more her thing but the sound board was complicated and Lily knew how to work it. But she couldn't do two things at once, obviously.
Seriously, can you handle this for ten minutes so I can grab a break? she asked, clearly annoyed. The guy nodded anxiously and Lily walked away from him. She hooked her thumbs into the back pockets of her jeans and walked over to the bar. The bartender saw her and grabbed a water out of the cooler. Thanks Al she said as she caught the bottle he threw towards her. Lily twisted the cap off, taking a moment to glance around the room. She leaned her back against the bar and took a sip of her water.

Derek smiled when he saw the girl who'd been working sound earlier sit down beside him. He'd thought she was pretty hot while he'd set up his amps and told talked to her briefly to get the levels right and such. "Hey there" He said softly taking another sip of his beer eyes on the girl. "You did a pretty good job making us not sound like crap" He said smirk crossing his lips as he pulled his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket resting it on the bar.

Hey there. You did a pretty good job making us not sound like crap One of the guys from the band said as he turned his body towards hers. Lily looked over, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. That's my job she answered simply. She had to look away from him for a moment. He had the bluest eyes and she was a sucker for blue eyes. Are you from around here? she asked curiously, glancing back at him for a moment before letting her gaze wander towards the sound board. The kid was fooling around with buttons and she knew she'd have to fix them all before the next band went up. Shit she muttered. Listen.. I gotta get over there an fix whatever this kid is fucking up... she said to the guy. I could use the help if you have any idea how to work a sound board.. this kid just can't seem to understand the simple instructions I give him she offered, stepping away from the bar in the direction of the sound area. Her body was partially turned towards his as she waited for a reply.

She seemed a bit frustrated and he looked over to the guy as well "Yeah he switched up the leads into my peddle board. " He said finishing up his beer and waving the bar tender to get him another before he stood up with the girl. "Naw, I've been here for awhile few months at least " He said softly fallowing close as they headed back to where the new guy fumbled with the switches. "You've got the base up way too high " He said to the kid waiting for him to step out of the way so he could turn the dial down and pushed a wire in that he'd only half put in. "So what you'd do to get stuck working with that dim wit?" He asked switching hands that his drink was in

Lily nodded when he mentioned something that the kid had done wrong. She had already chastised him for it. How do you like Saint James so far? she asked when he said he'd been around for a few months. Lil could never understand why people would move to Saint James. It was a small town and there was never too much going on. That was how she got interested in working at the pub in the first place. It gave her an opportunity to meet people passing through Saint James. That and she got to look at cute guitarists and drummers all night. The reached the board and Lily put her water to the side, immediately getting into her job and messing around with a couple things to fix what the kid has messed up. When she was finished she turned back to the guy just in time to hear him speak again. The guys who own the pub would rather I take photos of the bands and such.. you know, for promoting and all that. I've even got a couple of the local bands to hire me to do their posters she answered, pushing her ever present bands out of her face again. She really needed a clip or something when she was working the board but she never seemed to remember. I'm Lily, by the way she introduced herself, realizing that she didn't even know his name.

"Its a crappy town" He said shaking some read curls out of his eyes as he took a big swig of his beer letting her do her thing, he knew it well and he could tell she did too. He reached to adjust a dial as he listened to her talk about photography. "Oh thats cool, you probably have a bunch of photos of me, i sort of drift from band to band, filling in when they need someone decent. " He smirked eyes running along her body, he always liked blonds. "I'm Derek" he said with a nod to Lilly and he pushed his sleeve up exposing tattooed arms. "guessing you've lived here a long time?"

She almost laughed when he said it was a crappy town, knowing how much she felt the same way. But it was home and it would have to do - at least until she could get out of there. Maybe, I'll have to take a look through them she answered, knowing it was a possibility that if he was only a backup for random bands she might have missed meeting him. A lot of the time there were tons of bands playing in one night and she was crazy busy. She looked back over at him, her eyes catching his for just a moment as he told her his name. Guessing you've lived here a long time? Lily nodded Yepp she answered. It's crappy but its home she said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. The next band was almost finished setting up and was luckily the last band of the night. Hey.. I gotta take care of these guys, but some of us are gonna chill after the show at a friends house if you want to come she invited Derek.

Derek couldn't help but smirk bright blue eyes glinting in the low light a bit as he leaned against the board a bit, beer loosely between his fingers as he listened to her talk, local girls were always fun, they seemed to want the escape that a new comer could give that much more. "Yeah I have to stick around anyways " He said to her invitation. "The guy up there " He pointed a thumb towards the stage "is playing my guitar" He said straightening up. "Do you want some help, get your job done that much quicker?" He asked eyes still on her as the band started up, loud thrashy music that caused ringing in his ears.

He can't manage to bring a guitar of his own? Lily asked amusedly, a light smile playing on her lips. He asked if she wanted some more help with the board. Lil nodded since the band had started up. It was more like awful sound than it was music. It was soon that they'd played their songs and with a little struggling, the kid was learning from both she and Derek. With the bands final chord, Lily let out a soft sigh of relief. She directed the kid towards some cord organizing and went herself to clean up the stage mics and such. When it was all finished and everything had been locked up Lily looked around for Derek, wondering where he'd gone off to. Hey Lil, are you ready? one of the guys asked, coming up behind her and sliding a hand on her waist. She nodded, not even realizing his hand was on her. She was so used to her guy friends doing things like that with her that she didn't really even appreciate it anymore. Lily stepped away and ran into another of her friends, this time it was one of the girls. She was chatting when she saw Derek out of the corner of her eye. I'll catch up with you at Jason's.. she said as she stepped away and went to catch Derek's elbow.

Derek really didn't mind the music, yeah they weren't great but he was used to that they were some friends of his and so he had listened to them practice many a time. He helped Lily with the rest of the sound equipment and when the show ended he left her side though to go gather up his own things, keep them from stealing his cords. He watched though, the blond girl interact as he packed up his guitar case, she seemed at ease with the guys and even a bit touchy feely. Maybe he was wasting his time, but then again when did he ever let a boyfriend stop him from a little fun. When she returned to his side though that smirk was back and he in full charm mode, "You want a ride there? my cars right out side " He said lifting his guitar case. "Is it going to be a cool party or would be be better saying fuck them and take a few drinks to my place?" he asked

You want a ride there? My cars right outside Derek offered, asking if it was going to be a cool party or if it was skippable. Lily thought about it for a second. Of course, she had just walked over to the pub rather than waste gas money and lived just the couple streets over. Well we basically do the same thing after every show.. I can always bring you another time she offered. Honestly, it was a Thursday night and she wanted to get to bed somewhat early and it was already 11. We could hang out for an hour or so she suggested. Maybe you can walk me home afterwards? she asked with a soft smile.

Derek smirked that was a lot easier then he'd thought it would of been. "Yeah an hour works, got school or something in the morning?" He asked motioning for her to fallow him out the back door towards where his piece of crap car was parked, it still had California plates on it. "You mind dogs?" He asked as he unlocked the door, leaving it open for her as he put his sound stuff in the back seat. "I've got a big boy, but he's real friendly. " He said lighting up the cigarette he'd been waiting on for what felt like hours.

Yeah an hour works, got school or something in the morning? Derek asked, motioning for her to follow him. She grabbed her bag and walked behind him outside to his car. Yeah, I've got school.. do you? she asked curiously. She really wasn't that much of a trusting person but she knew how to protect herself and Derek didnt seem like a creep at all. He seemed genuine and nice, even if she really didn't know anything about him. Derek asked her if she liked dogs or not. I love dogs, I can't get one though 'cause my dad is allergic she explained. She slid into the passenger seat as Derek moved into his, lighting up a cigarette.

Derek offered her the pack as he started the car and pulled out to the main street. "Lars is sure fluffy, hope you being round him won't hurt your dad" He said like he might actually care but he didn't. He glanced towards Lily as they drove through the town towards the bad side of town. "Naw, I dropped out long ago, " He said with a shake of his head not finding school to be important. "What grade you in? " He almost didn't want to know that it would be his luck she was a well developed fifteen and he'd really have to just hang out with her for an hour.
