Learning the Basics {Jason & Jake}

[Grace Mills]

Grace nodded and made the arm circles smaller. She was really trying hard and she was basically holding herself off since she almost lost balance again. She turned toward Jason again with a smile as she kept going.

[Jason Smith]

Jason smiled and then nodded he could see was having trouble, "alright go ahead and relax...But remember to keep your back straight, if you slump it makes not only you unbalenced but the horse. And lets just say Desire doesnt like being unbalenced" Jason laughed.

[Grace Mills]

Grace smiled when he said she could relax. She breathed a sigh of relief and kept her back straight. She smiled down at Jason "Okay what's next?" She was really eager to learn this especially from Jason.

[Jason Smith]

Jason smiled at her, "a few minutes of break...Since your just beginning we cant push you to hard. Even if you feel fine now, babe your going to be very sore tomorrow" he says laughing, "but next I am going to teach you posting but at the walk insted of a trot" he smiles.

[Grace Mills]

Grace smiled and laughed a little when he said she would feel it tomorrow. She knew she would but she just wanted to learn. She smiled when he told her she would do posting next. "What's that just so I can get an idea."

[Jason Smith]

Jason smiled, "ok so you know when I am troting and standing up and then sitting down?" he asks and then starts speaking again, "thats posting, but its a little different at the walk...Probably harder but its how you have to learn" he says smiling.

[Grace Mills]

Grace smiled when he told her what she was going to learn. She knew she was going to be very sore in the morning. She would just go bug him though. She smiled to herself as she still had her back straight. She smiled down at him and said "Okay now I am really going to be sore tomorrow. I can take it though I'm a tough girl." she laughed and smiled.

[Jason Smith]

Jason just laughed and nodded, "alright enough talk...What were going to do first is just stand up in your stirrups as much as you can. Try and keep your back straight but if you need you can grab mane" he says smiling.

[Grace Mills]

When Jason said to stand in the stirrups as much as she could with her back straight she nodded. She stood up and held it together and stood up in the stirrups. She didn't want to use the mane unless she had to.

[Jason Smith]

Jason smiled and nodded, "good now sit down and do that again, but dont stand up as far..." he says and watches her posistion. She was having a little trouble with her heels but that was ok, most beginners couldnt push there heels down anyway.

[Grace Mills]

Grace smiled and nodded sitting down and then standing up again not as far as she did before. She could feel it is her calves but she held it there.

[Jason Smith]

Jason smiled, "now just keep doing that but faster, stand up...sit down....stand up....sit down" he says going with her as she moved.

Grace nodded and started to do what Jason said she was really concentrating. She stood up and down and up and down. She just kept going as Desire walked around the ring.

Jason clicked to Desire so that he walked a little faster, he still had him on the lunge line and had total control which made him feel good. He sighed and then looked at Grace and nodded, "very good, now I want you to grab some mane and stand there with your knees slightly bent" he says.

When Grace heard Jason say very good, she was so proud of herself. She smiled and nodded when he told her what she needed to do. She took some of Desires mane and stood there with her knees bent as he started going faster.
