Laurie laughed aloud in her class before realizing it and ducked her head. She blushed. The bell rang, saving her from answering to her anatomy teacher. She grabbed her notebook and pen and booked it out of the room with her cell in her hand.
"Home free! Where are you?"

Maggie was on the edge of her chair, bouncing her feet eagerly. Miss. Grant looked cross and was about to scold her clearly, but the bell rang. Maggie booked it from that class before checking her phone:
"Just got out of history. I'll skip gym. Where do you want to meet?"

Maggie laughed at the text and put her phone away. She leaned up against the wall, her tote bag resting by her feet. Miss. Grant approached her. "Miss. Russell, I will not tolerate the use of cell phones in my classroom. Remember that." Then she limped away. Maggie stuck out her tongue at the older woman's retreating back.

Laurie approached Maggie in the hall and saw her stick her tongue out at an older woman. She had to keep herself from laughing as she passed. She joined Maggie in the hall.
"I'm starving, where's the cafeteria?"

"Right this way." Maggie shouldered her bag and began walking in the opposite direction, assuming that Laurie would follow her. "So how's your first day going" she wanted to know.

"It's okay," Laurie answered. "I didn't really have any expectations. I hate Anatomy though." They walked to the cafeteria.
"Hey Maggie, if you're not doing anything after school I'd like to introduce you to my brother Eden."

"Why would you ever take anatomy?" Maggie wrinkled her nose and shouldered open the door to the cafeteria. "Sure, I'd like to meet him...oh, but wait...I help out at The First Page and The Pub after school sometimes...you could come with me if you wanted. Eden too." She scanned the crowded cafe for a vacant table.

Maggie laughed. "No, the Pub is a cafe/bakery. I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind you guys tagging along. Just find me on the quad after school." She plunked herself down in the first empty seat she found, gesturing at the chair opposite for Laurie.
