Maggie was browsing the shelves in the dog section of the local pet store. Chester and Roxy were both almost out of food and treats, and Maggie also wanted to buy them each a special chew toy or something. She was trying to decide between a rubber bone and a frisbee thing when she heard footsteps behind her. She figured it was the girl on duty, who had asked her four times already if she needed help, so she turned around with an irritated expression to explain yet again that she was fine, when she realized that it wasn't the employee but another girl about her age. She recognized her slightly from school. Her bad mood evaporated. "Oh, hi."

Kristy was walking around the store. Her Austrailain Shepard was out of feed and she needed some more. She had called in a few days ago for them to order some and was called this morninging told that it was in. She was walking to the back where it was held and ran into a girl from school, who looked very irritated. When she turned around she seemed to calm slightly, Kristy smiled, "Hey" she says back after the girl speaks.

"You go to Saint-James High don't you" she wanted to know, putting the frisbee back and taking two of the rubber bones to add to her basket. She wanted to say that the girl was in her math class and that her name was Karen orCaroline or something like that, but she couldn't quite remember.

Kristy nodded, "yeah" she says with a small smile. She was outgoing at school but didnt know everyone. She liked to believe she had friends but she was never sure. She had to be careful at school, nobody knew about her power and she intended on keeping it that way, "You?" she asked even though she knew the answer.

Maggie thought it was weird that the girl would return the question, since obviously if Maggie recognized her then it would be from school, which meant she did indeed attend Saint-James High, but she let the biznarness go and instead responded with, "Yeah, I'm a sophomore...I think you're in my math class. I'm Maggie."

Kristy nodded and laughed a little at her own stupidity she nodded again, "Oh yeah! I am Kristy, we do have the same math class" she smiles slightly remembering the girl now.

Kristy, that was it! Maggie nodded absently, her gaze trailing to the other girl's empty grasp. "What are you here for?" She knew it had to be some kind of pet related, otherwise there was no reason for Kristy to be in the store. As she was waiting for an answer, an elderly woman and her pug entered the store. "Pugs are creepy" Maggie declared in a whisper. "They're all...wrinkly."

Kristy looked at her, "Feed for my dog, its a special kind as he is prize winning" she smiles and then looks over to the dog and sighed, "there very misunderstood. I like pugs personally they have a sweet deminor" she says as the dog looks over at her. She smiled in response to his thought thank you.

"I love dogs in general" Maggie stated, in case her comment had caused Kristy to think poorly of her...which normally she wouldn't have cared but when it came to her babies, she cared a lot. "I have two dogs" she elaborated. "How many do you have?"
The pug sat down by his owner's feet and tilted its head, studying Kristy. "You should throw something at her head" he thought with a slight growl, his beedy little eyes shifting to Maggie and then back to Kristy.

Kristy smiles, "About six, I train dogs in agility" she says looking at the pug not looking surprised by its thoughts. She had gotten used to dogs wanting something done or thinking things that people would find awkward. As her own dogs thought things of her a lot of the time when she is being mean or harsh in training. She shook her head making it look like she was flipping the hair from her eyes, "What breeds do you have?" she asks curiously.

"I have two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Chester and Roxy." She smiled fondly. "I love them to death." She glanced briefly at the pug again who was straining on its leash. "Am I crazy or does that thing look like it wants to eat me?"
"Oh she's a smart one" chuckled the pug, which sounded more like a harsh bark which caused the lady then to kneel by his side and try and calm him down. "Let's give her a medal" he went on snidely. "Come on, girl, let me at her. You know she deserves it for calling me ugly."

Kristy looked at Maggie and smiled, "aww, cute" she says warmly. She loved dogs probably more than this girl would know. She loved horses even more most people in the town knew of her training practice. She sighed and looked back to the pug, "He might be mad at you calling him wrinkly..." she says and then looks to maggie quickly to see if she suspected anything.

Maggie took a cautious step backwards as the dog began howling. "That can't possibly be it. It's not like he can understand me" she scoffed, but she looked uneasy all the same.
"This is why I hate humans" growled the pug.

Kristy looked at Maggie a little irritated and then went to the dogs side, ignoring the owners glare. "Easy boy...Its ok, some people dont understand dogs" she says quietly so only the pug would be able to hear. Since there hearing was so much better than humans she patted the dog as well so it looked as if thats all she was doing.

"Excuse me, little girl, but my gizmo doesn't like other people too much" the elderly woman said with a cross look.
Maggie watched as Kristy approached the dog. She let out a relieved breath when it seemed to calm down and stopped barking.
"What did you do to it" a voice at her side wanted to know.
Maggie let out a barely audible gasp as one hand flew automatically to her chest. When she had her breath back, she surveyed her uncle out of the corner of one eye. "Nothing!" She gave him a defiant look. "And what are you doing here?"
"Well the girl's talking to a dog, I didn't want you her to be the only one talking to another creature." He smiled cheerfully, leaning against the rack of dog toys with a pleased expression.
