Sammi sat on a bench in the quad, her bag at her feet, waiting for Liam. He had actually been in class today. At least the two classes she shared with him. She wasn't sure about the others. She waved at Amber and Grace as the twins headed for the parking lot to go home and they waved back. She leaned back and rested on her elbows, enjoying the sunshine while she waited. Nearby footsteps made her open her eyes.

Liam did go to his other classes, he didn't skip this time. Last class, teacher wasn't there and he was playing check mate with Marcus, teaching him the game, he eventually helped him out with homeworks. He looked at the cloak when the bell rang and just got out with Marcus. He was running to the RV with Marcus, who tried to invite him to some kind of a party, but seeing where Liam was going, Marcus just gave him that playful pat on the shoulder and left. As Liam got closer, it was quite hot, which did feel weird, he looked at Sammi. "Sorry, was in all my classes and, had to teach a game to Marcus and help him with homeworks." Liam said, taking some painkiller, he searched in hi bag for a bottle of water.

Sammi offered him half a smile and her own water bottle. "It's fine. We can head over to the fields now but I don't know how long it will be until she can talk to us. They're gearing up for the big game this weekend against Waterville." She made a face. Waterville, Michigan was a much bigger town and had been better in athletics and academics for awhile now. But there was hope all that would change this year. "But we can watch...if you don't mind. I love soccer. I'm just not very good or I would have tried out."

Liam listened, he did enjoy soccer, and knew her friend was playing soccer, he just nodded carefully, and sighed calmly, not believe his hears, as he put his hand on her mouth to make her stop. He then just had a smile, as he took a sip of the water, swallowing the pill. He let go. "Don't criticize yourself, you have the perfect physique to play the game, you are just hmm maybe afraid of making mistakes, at least try your luck". Liam said sincerely, people that passed just looked around, he was wondering what to do, Sammi still had that popularity to defend. He just sighed. "You sure it's a good idea, being seen together, you are popular, and I'm a nerd." Liam said, giving her back the bottle.

Sammi froze when he put his hand over her mouth. Her breathing became a little shallow. For a minute after he took it away she focused on breathing. Then she spoke. "It's fine, Liam. I told you, I'm not going to make fun of you again. And I don't care what other people think. If they know me, they know I have a good reason for everything I do. And thanks" she added after a minute, scooping up her bag. "For what you said about me and soccer...let's head over now." She fell into step next to him, leading them both in the direction of the multiple fields out back.

Liam just looked around as they kept moving, making sure the insane guy wouldn't be here again. Liam just kept following, remaining silent for a while, he was grateful that everything seemed good between him and Sammi. He just stopped in his tracks when he thought he heard something, but it was only kids playing, he sighed of relief. "Oh and huh.. I think you should know that.. Marcus is helping me out.. with the inv.. well you know. .the thing I have. Controlling it.."

Sammi was quiet for a bit, almost like she hadn't heard him and then she whispered, "Marcus knows about that?! What happened, did you have an episode in front of him or something? And how exactly do you control it?" They approached the fields and could begin to see the varsity soccer team at the far end, doing some shooting drills.

"No I just showed him, back in the restaurant... he was amazed and said he would help me control it. So I've been training.. the body as well.. sadly.. seems the burnt marks won't heal up.."" Liam said, a bit sad about that, he then looked as the teams were training for soccer, scratching his hair calmly as he looked at the field. "Why aren't you trying out.. I'm sure you could be a good soccer player, imagine, Sammi, the female David Beckham."

"Tryouts ended weeks ago" she muttered, shrugging. It didn't bother her that much. "Come on, let's get closer." She shifted her bag to her other shoulder and led Liam to the bleachers right behind the net. She waved at Coach Gibson and smiled brightly at her best friend as Mal did a fancy move before shooting the ball right into the net.
"Good footwork Johnson, stay on your toes mores Dawes and you might have saved that, but good try. Keep it up ladies" Coach Gibson was bellowing.

"Well you could always try next year, and this time.. try not say you aren't good at it." Liam just looked at the nice move, then at the coach just like Sammi did, making some kind of soldier salute to the coach, out of respect in a way. All boys did that when they saw him, maybe of his harsh attitude to some of em but he never had problems with this coach. Liam just looked at Sammi after that. "Wow.. looks like that girl trained her footwork a lot.." Liam said, not knowing it was her friend.

Coach Gibson nodded gruffly back at the two spectators then blew his whistle sharply. "Ok, gather around girls. I want to talk strategy."
Sammi turned in her seat to face Liam when he spoke about Mal's footwork. "Yeah...she practices all the time but she's also got a lot of natural ability. That's Mal, by the way" she added off-handedly.

"Oh.... so that's her." Liam just said, as he kept watching, he was wondering what kind of strategy the coach would give them. He then looked at Sammi calmly "I'm sure you have that ability too, if you weren't afraid of showing it." Liam said, with a small wink as he then looked at the team, wondering if they would still be training. He took out an apple from his bag and took a bite out of it.

Sammi watched him for a minute and then took the apple from him and threw it at him. "Fine, you want to see how bad I am at soccer? Let's go." She left her bag in the stands and picked her way down to the field, climbing the fence not very gracefully and dropping down to the other side. "Coach Gibson won't mind if we borrow this" she added, holding up one of the practice balls. "Or if we use the other end of the field. Let's go."

He was about to take another bite, until she took the apple away and threw it. It hit his forehead, he let a little ouch sound and the apple then fell to the ground. "That was my lunch.. you know how Marcus is when he sees food." Liam said, he just listened to her though, why was she so negative about her skills, he just sighed, climbing the fence after her, calmly, taking his time so he wouldn't get injured again. He followed her silently. "Why do you doubt yourself?"

"Because I know my limits. It's not like I said I was bad at everything in life. But sports are one thing that I really am not good at." They reached the far net and Sammi looked at the ball in her hands for a minute and then dropped it to the ground. "Ok, I'm going to attempt to pass you the ball. This is the easiest thing in soccer." She planted one foot and raised the other to kick it. And kick it she did. But it went about three feet wide of where she had been aiming which was Liam's foot.
